Baltimore Sheltie Rescue

Baltimore Rescue is very active. On average, seventy-five Shelties a year are re-homed. On these pages we have include our current activities, as well as information that may of of some help when considering a rescue Sheltie.

We are not a "shelter". All rescues are welcomed into our homes and the homes of our "foster families", and during their stay, they can settle into a normal routine and be evaluated by a knowledgeable "sheltie person" before going to a new home. All rescues available for adoption through Baltimore Sheltie Rescue have been spayed or neutered, heart worm tested, have had shots updated, and had a Vet check for general health. This process generally takes about a week, and then the sheltie is ready to start a new life with a new family!

If you wish to adopt a sheltie, contact one of the members of Baltimore Sheltie Rescue. You will be asked a few questions about your home, lifestyle, and preferences. Your name will be added to our "waiting to adopt" list and when a Sheltie comes in that matches your lifestyle, we'll give you a call.

Please make sure that you are ready to give up your Sheltie. While we understand having second thoughts about such a big decision, we make arrangements for your Sheltie's care as soon as you call us. This includes making veterinary appointments, foster care arrangements, and scheduling any surgery or tests that may be needed. Baltimore Sheltie Rescue is a volunteer organization, working from our homes, where Rescues are welcomed as part of the family. We are not a shelter. We do Rescue because we love our breed, and it all takes time. If you do make the decision to keep your Sheltie or have made other arrangements, we need 72 hours notice to keep from being charged for appointments. Thank you for your consideration.
